Babak Saed was born 1965 in Mashhad, Iran, and came to Germany when he was twelve. After graduating from high school, he studied economics at the University of Bonn. In 1998, he founded an office for public videos and installations. At the same time, he also began creating his first text works in which the letters merge with each other in a style that soon became his artistic trademark. He received the Art Prize from the City of Bonn in 2000 and the digital new art award in 2002. In 2004, he completed an art-in-architecture project in the Deutsche Welle building in Bonn and has since realized numerous major art-in-architecture projects all over Germany. His works reflect his exploration of communication and language. In 2007, he created a temporary text installation with 40 languages called After Babel for the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin. During this time, he also began producing his first acrylic glass works. In 2014, he had a major solo exhibition at the Museum in Siegburg. Babak Saed lives and works in Bonn.
